Getting government IDs is so hard, especially Social Security System or SSS but since it is one of the ID’s that you need for almost all transactions, you have no choice but to submit yourself in this pain in the ass procedure.
This is not the case when the digitized ID was first introduced last year 1998 (that was I know). The processing at that time is so fast, maybe because the ID photo capture is open to all SSS branches and that it only took 2-4 weeks for you to receive the digitized ID.
I read from the newspaper that the reason for the delay is that, the production of SSS digitized card was stopped last April 2010 and their back log already reached 600,000.
And oh guess what? SSS has released a NEW ID with chip that members can use in any ATM’s to withdraw their benefits. Is this good news? Well for those who are a new member and don’t have the digitized ID maybe it is since if you decided to finally get your ID you will get the new one. But for others like me who had the old ID and even though they have said that we have the choice not to get one, will have to pay P300.00 if you want to have a new ID.
This P300.00 is not a problem if ONLY the service in getting one is fast and that you will receive the ID in more or less than a week.
I am glad with the innovation this country is going through, I just hope with this new ID scheme no corruption will take place and that the service is as fast as their counterpart……….. the RECTO!

One reason why I still have an ID with my maiden name! I think the reason why they won’t release these IDs is to prevent their members to not get their loans. A digitized ID is required para ma-encash ang check ng loan/benefits.

Hay sis, I feel for you and your sister. Good thing your sister was able to convince the people there to have her picture taken the same day. I, on the other hand, was given a schedule 3 MONTHS after. I mean what was that about? Is it really hard to click a button and save our pictures in their files that some has to come back a week or even 3 months after? 🙁
And same here sis, I haven’t got my ID yet. Good luck. The main reason why I can’t open a savings account for my daughter. Pfft. *sob*

I want to get a new SSS ID. So sad that they are only giving it to the first 300. Hope it will be available to all soon.
