I need another valid ID. My TIN ID was borrowed and until now this person haven’t returned it yet, and also, my SSS ID is missing so I need to secure a new one again. I don’t have a company ID anymore since I am not working so I decided to get a postal ID last Wednesday.
Here are the procedures on getting one:
1. Fill-up a form (from the post office) – I got mine for free, others said that they have paid for it.
2. You should bring any of the following credentials: Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, SSS ID, Voters ID, Passport, Brgy. Certificate/ID, Driver’s License etc.
3. You will be asked to present two 2×2 ID picture with white background, if you don’t have this, there is an available booth there to take your picture for P70.00
4. Then you will be interviewed.
5. Then you will be recommended for the issuance of Postal ID.
6. You have to pay P300.00, this price is at the Manila Post Office. I heard that some area ask for higher price, while others ask lower. Yah no fixed amount!
7. At Manila Post Office, you need to return the next day to get the ID and it should be around 1-5PM only
Do you think the process is easy? Yes it was, the only questionable thing on the process is the cost of the ID. They asked me to pay P300.00 and when I checked my receipt the only stated amount is P175.00
Why is it that they do not put the right cost of the ID in the receipt? Hmmm.. what do you think Mr. President? (as if he reads this blog post lol)
Do you have the same experiences as mine?

Hindi ko ma-gets kung para saan pa yung Postal ID fee na P170? Para sa ID card lang? In Marikine, they require Barangay certificate, P100 na agad yun! I forgot what we paid for the Postal ID itself pero more than P170 and it’s not included in the official receipt.

I think you can’t call it “dark secret” when they have posted the breakdown for the P300. The receipt shows P175 only because that’s what goes to our government, which is for the postal ID fee. All other fees are not government revenues. For example, the notarial fee (which I think is really cheap at P80.00) would go to the lawyer who will notarize your papers.
By the way, documentary stamp is sold at its cheapest in BIR at P15.00 so whoever is selling it at P20 (which is actually the current re-selling price) is just making her profit and it’s not illegal. Also, since the other fees (except lamination) say optional, you can get those services from other sources.

It’s obviously a scam to make more money. I’d demand to have the same amount printed. After all, that’s what you pay.
Two words. Tax evasion.

Hmm. its really confusing, not just that, 300php is too much just for a POSTAL ID which is only laminated (not the card type one). the fact that the id is not yet laminated and the payment for the lamination is not included on the 175 amount makes us think that there is SOMETHING FISHY here. tsk!

Hi Levy, linked your blog post to mine. I also blogged about my experience (and dismay) on getting this darned piece of paper. Let’s hope somebody high up in the government would act on this soon. Corruption is pulling our country down 🙁
