Summer vacation will not be complete without an out of town trip with the whole family. Ours is like an annual pilgrimage to our ancestral home in the province where we can catch up with relatives or old friends and have an opportunity for the younger brood to bond and strengthen their own kinship.
Fresh is one adjective that perfectly describes everything in our provincial trips. There’s nothing more delightful than breathing in fresh air from the countryside, devouring fresh seafood, vegetables, and meat, and having a totally refreshing vacation.

Even the old and rustic homes and vacation lodgings have some fresh innovations in their interiors whenever we come to visit. The changes are sometimes as simple as rearranged furniture or a new accent added to their design; but, they are always fresh and pleasant. My cousin recently added modern furnishings in her kitchen by incorporating shiny steel appliances like coffee maker, toaster, and clock, black painted kitchen cabinets, and small flat TV with the earthy wall, dark wood table and counters, and soft furnishings. The combination looks great that we couldn’t help admiring her new kitchen. The best part is the whole family got to spend a whole day cooking and munching on fresh treats from this fresh looking kitchen.
These out of town trips have become a tradition for us due to sentimental reasons; the rest and recreation aspect is just an added bonus. A visit to a relative or an escapade around the town allows us to share our roots to the little ones and while we reminisce childhood memories.
At the end of our trip, the kids would always pick-up something fresh to share to our city friends – fresh stories, fresh escapades, fresh games and fresh ties that we maintain with our country friends. In my case, our latest trip got me a fresh idea on the modern look of black painted kitchen cabinets and shiny modern appliances for my kitchen.

Perhaps summer is the best time of the year for almost everyone. Out-of-town trips for the whole family is fun and exciting during summer and yeah it can always be sentimental. 🙂
summer is really sentimental because its the time where we bond with our childen. hay kakamis tlga, when they grow up kasi hirap na nila maisama, like now mas madami pa sila gingwa kaysa samin.
