A lot of us grew up with stories about enchanted beings like dwarfs, fairies and other nature spirits or the scary trio of capre, tikbalang and aswang. We also have a penchant for the unknown and unexplored. This makes the paranormal and psychic events popular for us. It is no surprise that we have a number of psychics proliferating in the country. In fact, palm reading and psychic reading is used by some people to guide their decisions for the future.
I know some of our relatives who would look for signs or mystic readings to help them make a major decision in life. They would even schedule a trip to Quiapo just to get a glimpse of what the future holds for them. I accompanied a relative during one of her psychic expeditions in Quiapo and I was surprised to see the long line of make shift tables that advertise the mystic trade. Palm readers and self proclaimed seers promote their trade with the use of signage, tarot cards and a hodgepodge of tattered props. My cousin didn’t have any difficulties in finding her regular psychic. They immediately went through the rituals of “talking to the tarot” to seek help, focusing on your thoughts, cutting the deck etc. At the end of her reading my cousin seemed to be pleased with what she heard and left with her dilemma resolved.
I couldn’t quite get how she was able to make her decision based on general statements that were given by her personal mystic. But I suppose that’s just part of the mystery of the trade.

I have always been fascinated by psychic readings, tarot cards etc .
I have practically travelled North and South Luzon and a portion of the Visayas region .. till as fate had it– I have found one excellent psychic in Quiapo and the readings are all accurate. There is always a long cue especially on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Anyway, it is all worth the wait …
