PR Moms were invited the other day to attend a Discovery day event at the PR Gaz plant at Pasig. I can’t say no to the event because I wanted to learn more about LPG and how we can prevent the spread of fire when it starts up.
Now, I want to share with you what I have learned and realized on that day.
-natural LPG has no scent and color and yet LPG manufacturers add the chemical Ethyl Mercapthan to easily identify if there is a leak in our LPG tank or hose.
– LPG is not poisonous but can be dangerous when inhaled due to shortness of oxygen (asphyxiation), since LPG is heavier than air.
-if you notice that your LPG hose has moist, it is because that LPG can melt natural rubber.
Here are some safety Tips that you should put in mind:
2. make sure that the stove knob is closed before opening the LPG tank.
3. if you are using matches or lighter in opening the stove, make sure to light it first before opening the stove.
4. don’t move the stove frequently. Doing so can damage the hose and coppertube
5. after cooking always close the stove knob
In case of Emergency, do the following:
2. Avoid opening or closing all electric switches since it can cause spark.
3. open the door or window to let fresh air go through.
5. If the leak came from the LPG tank, bring it outdoor immediately.
6. If a fire started at the area where the LPG tank is located, Dial 117 quickly.
