This post is dedicated in loving memory of our beloved Atty. Renato A. Martinez.
April 4 1937-February 28, 2013
Yesterday, we were at Lucena to pay tribute to our late Uncle Renato. Two years ago, he started to undergo kidney dialysis- Dialysis is the artificial process of eliminating waste (diffusion) and unwanted water (ultrafiltration) from the blood.
We visited him last February 10 at the hospital and never thought that it will be the last time we will hear his jokes. I didn’t come to his room to check his status, because I was with my son and they don’t allow kids to enter the room. Also, I don’t like to see him in a terrible condition because I know I will burst in tears. He is not a relative at blood, but I love and respect him so much. He was a good uncle-in-law!
Every time there is a reunion in my husband’s clan, he was the first to greet and welcome you. He will sit and chat with everyone, and asking us how we were. He usually tell jokes which includes of me gaining weight. From now on, reunion’s will never be the same again now that he’s gone.
I know he is a good father because he and his wife (Auntie Mita) have raised 5 wonderful and successful children.
“Uncle, I know you had a good life. We will remember all the time and laughter that we have shared. We will surely miss you. Please say Hi! and Hello! to Tatay and Nanay (my in-laws).
In heaven, I know you will be happy since you will no longer feel any pain. Please pray for all of us that are still here in Earth. May we be all what you want us to be. We love you so much!”
