Our Laptop was broken August last year. We bought it from my husband’s previous co-worker (read related story HERE). It lasted for more than 3 years (from 2009-2012). Noel and I are now sharing with our desktop, and I am afraid that it will give up soon if we continuously use it everyday. Hubby uses it from noon till 6am in the morning, while I used it from 7am to 12 noon. You see, it only have an hour or 2 to rest.
I don’t have a credit card anymore to purchase one and make an installment payment (I closed every single one of them last year). I am still saving my blogging money to buy one in cash. Unfortunately, I think I still need more months to be able to purchase my own laptop and I really need one now!
Of course, a notebook laptop (around 10′ inch) is cheaper than 13′ inch. The most affordable brand I found on the Lazada website was Asus Eee PC X101CH which is around Php 11,500 , the second was the Samsung NP-N100S-E02PH at Php 12,500. The problem is that, I am not used to using one with a small screen when I am typing. The cheapest 13’inch brand that I saw was the Lenovo Ideapad S300 for Php 18,000.
I’m not a techy person so I am not that familiar with their specs I still have to consult my reliable geeky husband for it, and of course the price is different in every specs.
Oh well, it’s either I will borrow a credit card to be able to get one in the moment or I will wait till I have enough amount to pay in cash.
Do you know a good brand of laptop that’s affordable and with good specs?

I recently bought this (http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/laptops/NP530U3B-A01US-specs) at PC Options Gilmore for Php29,500. It used to be Php38,000. The small laptops (netbooks) have low processing power(intel Atom). They will only be fast when they are fresh (first 1-2 months). After that, you will have to open your programs one at a time if you want to use it without wanting to set it on fire. 😀 Should you decide to buy a netbook, make sure to ask the saleperson if it can be upgraded to 4G or 8G RAM. A plus 4G ram upgrade, i believe, is around 1K Php.
Also.. before you buy, ask for a 64-bit processor. 32-bit processors can only be upgraded to 3G ram.
Hope this helps.. email me if you have more questions.
BTW the Samsung i bought is awesome 🙂

Our laptop too broke down – problem as per technician, motherboard. According to him it is not wise to replace the motherboard as it would cost really high, just a little difference than buying a new one. I recent read that there is a new Chrome laptop that would be released that have a starting cost of around $ 150.00. Unfortunately, it might be months before it became available here. HP usually has an auction sale at Worldtrade Center in Pasay. They offer their laptops and other computers for just half the price. Do inquire from them as to when will they have their next auction.
