I am glad that we decided to live in the South, because it has a lot of things to offer. I love the air, I love the local food and I love the spacious surroundings.
Now, we have a new place to enjoy shopping, dining and entertainment and it is just 15-20 minutes away from our place – it is the SM Southmall.
I was surprised that the look of SM Southmall now is very different from what it looked like before. They have revamped the interiors and they now offer new attractions which includes new shops housing favorite foreign and local brands as well as the new al fresco dining strip called Food Street.
The formal relaunch of SM Southmall was held last November 17,2012 and it was hosted by Ms. Issa Litton.
The crowd was serenaded by Artists Gian Magdangal, the UP Singing Ambassadors and the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra led by maestro Gerald Salonga.
SM Supermalls executives led by SM Prime President Mr. Hans T. Sy, SCMC President Ms. Annie S. Garcia, VP Operations-South Mr. Glenn D. Ang, SCMC VP Operations-Premier malls Mr. Steven T. Tan, VP Leasing Ms. Daisy T. Chua, and SM Engineering Mr. Hans Christian Sy Jr. together with key executives from partner stores, celebrities and personalities graced the event.
The event was even made more festive and colorful with the Christmas celebration launch on site featuring the 20-foot mechanical royal Christmas carnival figures at the mall.
SM Southmall’s redesigned a 20-hectare property which boasts of over 300 prime retail choices and all-new attractions to visit. There are lots of reasons why the South is the New Direction for quality and upscale leisure and entertainment.
For shopping, the mall presents a sample of its architectural innovation High Bay, a high ceiling section for serious shoppers, which hosts foreign labels such as 158 Designer’s Boulevard, Nine West, Cache Cache, Terranova, Aldo, Charles & Keith, La Senza and Face Shop among others. Truly a Southern belle’s shopping line-up daydream come true!
Entertainment is also a premier feature at SM Southmall. It is home to the only IMAX Theater in the South Metro, which offers a comfortable 440-seating capacity and the latest in cinema technology, and SM Ice Skating Rink, one of only two SM ice skating rinks in the Philippines. You don’t need to go far to experience IMAX yehey!!!!
The South equally sets a new direction for a definitive dining experience – at the Food Street at Southmall. True to the mall’s commitment to bring the best to the South, this 250-meter row of restaurants celebrates togetherness among families and friends as it offers a variety of cuisines for discriminating tastes and individual palates. The establishment boasts of spacious al fresco dining area, illuminated LED fountain that serves as a visual delight for all ages, soothing jazz music, weekly live entertainment, parking that’s within walking distance and a convenient drop off and pick up area for both the shoppers and diners.
We had the chance to check out some restaurants like Café Mary Grace, Tous Le Jours, Holly’s Coffee, Rack’s, Marciano’s, Maharaja and Agave. (I will post about these restaurants in my food blog so better watch out for it).
The rest of SM Southmall retail spaces have also been re-zoned for an enjoyable, accessible and convenient shopping experience for all mall-goers. SM Southmall will soon offer SM Bowling Center, Mall Concierge, Golf Cart Service, LED Carpark Finder, Valet Service, Driver’s Lounge, Transport Service Expansion, enhancement of PWD facilities and more shopping choices.
With all these new services and features for the Southern folks to enjoy, SM Southmall, indeed, defines a new direction for uptown shopping and leisure experience.

With SM Southmall’s new look, I’m sure a lot of people will consider it as their new shopping/dining/entertainment haven. Too bad, we can’t frequent this place because we live far from it.

We have good memories at SM Southmall and frequently visit it when we were still living in Muntinlupa City. My son Pio, loved going to the SM Storyland and would spend hours and hours playing. I hope we can still have the time to visit the place.
