After Yakumi, we visited Red Lantern‘s Chinese Restaurant at Solaire.
The very young and handsome Chef Lo ka Cheung Sam greeted us.
These were the desserts that they have prepared for us:
Chilled Osmanthus Flower and Wolfberries with Aloe Vera
Chef Lo, explained the health benefits of the ingredients of this dessert. But unfortunately I didn’t take a note to remember it, so I just researched it.
Here are what I found:
Chinese Wolfberries- are supposed to contain more beta-carotene, a type of antioxidant, than carrots. Antioxidants may have anti-aging and cancer-fighting effects. It is also believed to improve eyesight. The berries are believed to promote youthful-looking skin by nourishing yin and improving blood production. Chinese Wolfberries are thought to strengthen the Liver and Kidneys.
Osmanthus Flowers- Dispels cold and dampness in the body. Wonderful for treating colds, they can get decrease the mucus caused by inflamed lungs and reduce coughing. Improves overall lung health. Treats menstrual pain, as well as regular stomach pain. Treats tooth aches Warms stomach, improves digestion, treats intestinal diseases and reduces the amount of stomach gas. Used to tranquilise an active liver. Removes many toxins from the body. Brilliant for enhancing eyesight (via:www.divineglowinghealth.com)
This dessert is very light, it’s the perfect dessert to order after a heavy meal.
The next dessert is Glutinous Rice balls with red bean cream
This dessert is hot. It’s like our famous “ginataan sa bilo bilo”, except that it’s lighter. The Pinoy’s version has a lot of various ingredients which makes it heavier to eat. There are black sesame inside that tastes like our very own palitaw too.
The cost of both desserts is P200 each.
